Winners Announced at Championship Banquet
TAMPA, Fla. – United Soccer Leagues announced the W-League honors for the 2010 season, naming the Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, Defender of the Year, Coach of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year. The awards were presented at a banquet at the 2010 W-League Championship Presented by Umbro in Santa Clarita, California. Voting was conducted by W-League coaches and general managers.
Santa Clarita’s Khassal Settles In

Santa Clarita, CA – Cherelle Khassal is more than 5,000 miles from home, but it doesn’t feel that way. The Irish U-19 international has made herself quite comfortable in California, playing for the Santa Clarita Blue Heat. The first year W-League franchise has taken some bumps in its inaugural season, but Khassal helped make it a memorable one.
Khassal, 19, grew up in Leicester, England and qualified to play for Ireland because of her family’s background. She grew up playing soccer with her brother, dreaming of taking her game to the next level. Khassal wanted to play in America.

Santa Clarita, CA. -- The teams are making their way to Santa Clarita, CA and the anticipation is building for the 2010 W-League Championship Presented by Umbro. On Thursday, the Eastern Conference champion Atlanta Silverbacks will meet the Central Conference’s Buffalo Flash at 5 p.m. PT in the first semifinal of the day, followed by the Western Conference champion Vancouver Whitecaps vs. the W-League regular season champs, the Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues, at 8 p.m. PT.
